12 ounce bottle into pint glass, no bottle dating. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy medium orange/amber color with a 2 finger dense and fluffy off white head with good retention,m that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, pine, caramel, toasted bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/pine hops and moderate bready malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, pine, caramel, toasted bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Moderate amount of pine/citrus rind bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon/orange peel, citrus rind, pine, caramel, toasted bread, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice robustness, balance, and complexity of citrus/pine hops and moderate bready malt flavors; with a nice malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and moderately creamy/sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a nice straightforward American pale ale style. All around good robustness, complexity, and balance of citrus/pine hops and moderate bready malt flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

I picked up a bottle of Lucky Girl's Pale Ale a couple weeks ago for $1.79 at Boyne Country Provisions. A Pale Ale sounds good tonight and I'm interested to see this one stacks up, so lets see how it goes. No visible bottling date. Poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a imperial pint glass.
A- The label looks ok, it's a little cheesy, but it is a little eye catching. It poured a slightly hazy orange color that took on more of an amber color when held to the light with a finger and half of slightly off white head that died down to a thin ring that stayed till the end and it didn't leave any lacing behind. This is a decent looking Pale Ale, but I wish it had some lacing.
S- The aroma starts off with a medium amount of sweetmess with the malts showing up first and they impart a mixture of sweet malt, lightly grainy, lightly bready and pale malt aromas with no single aspects sticking out the most. Up next comes some doughy yeast and it's followed by the hops which impart a grassy, light citrus and light soapy aromas. The aroma is decent, but I could go without the soapy hops.
T- The taste seems to be similar to the aroma and it starts off with a medium amount of sweetness with the malts still being the first to show up and they impart the same malty aspects that they did in the aroma with no single aspect seeming to stick out the most. Up next comes the doughy yeast which is a little lighter than it was in the aroma and it's followed by the hops which impart the same hopyy mixture that they did in the aroma, but they are a little on the light side. On the finish there's a lighter amount of medium bitterness with a sweet malt and lightly hoppy aftertaste. This was a decent tasting Pale Ale, but it was a little too malt forward.
M- Smooth, a little crisp, slightly clean, on the lighter side of being medium bodied with a slightly lighter amount of medium carbonation. The mouthfeel is nice and it works well with this beer.
Overall I thought this was an ok beer and I thought it was a very average example of the style, when it came down to it most the aspects were weaker than I would like and I just thought it was too malt forward for the style. This didn't have the best drinkability, one is enough for me, I don't have the urge to drink anymore than that. What I like the most about this beer is the mouthfeel, it's nice and it works well with this beer. What I like the least about this beer balance, it's just too malt forward for the style. I wouldn't buy this beer again, it's not hard to find a better Pale Ale and I wouldn't recommend it. All in all I thought this beer was just ok at best and it seemed to be pretty average for the style in just about every aspect and it just wasn't that memorable. It's not a favorite beer from this brewery and it's average at best for the style. Better luck next time guys, this one could use some work.
