I don't really like Lager, so it is little bit strong flavor to me. However, if you prefer lager you will like it!

12 ounce bottle into lager glass, no bottle dating. Pours fairly crystal clear deep reddish brown color with a 1 finger dense light tan head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toast, dark bread, light nuttiness, herbal, grass, light pepper and roasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of roast/bready malts and light-moderate earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toast, dark bread, light nuttiness, herbal, grass, light pepper, and roasted earthiness. Light-moderate herbal/roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toast, dark bread, and herbal/roasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of roast/bready malt and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; with a nice roasted bitterness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Moderate roasted dryness after the finish. Very clean on lager flavors with zero yeast notes present. Medium-high carbonation and medium body; with a very smooth, crisp, fairly creamy, and lightly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming present after the finish as expected of 5%. Overall this is a very good schwarzbier style. All around nice robustness, complexity, and balance of roast/bready malt and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

I picked up a bottle of Lucky Girl's Black Lager a few days ago for $1.79 at Boyne Country Provisions. It's been a little while since I've had a new Black Lager and I thought I would take a chance on this one, so lets see how it goes. No visible bottling date. Poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a imperial pint glass.

A- The label looks ok, it's a little a cheesy looking, but it is a little eye catching. It poured a nice brown color that took on more of mahogany color when held to the light with a fingers worth of tan head that was a little creamy and it down to a thin ring that stayed till the end and it left a little bit of spotty lacing behind. This is a nice looking black lager, but it could be just a little darker.

S- The aroma starts off with a medium amount of sweetness with some grainy malty aromas with a little bit of toasted malts with some light toasted and roasted aroma with just a slight chocolate aroma. towards the end there's a little bit of a nutty aroma. This beer has a nice aroma, but it could have a little more roast to it.

T= The taste seems to be similar to the aroma, but this time it's a little more roastier and it starts off with a medium amount of sweetness with the malts being the first to show up and they impart the same aspects that they did in the aroma, but this time more of roasted and toasted malt aspects come through. Up next comes some clean lager yeast that goes right into a real light hop flavor that's hardly noticeable. On the finish there's a really light amount of bitterness with a slightly watery roasted malt aftertaste. This is a nice tasting Black Lager, but i wish the aftertaste wasn't a little watery.

M- Smooth, a little clean, a little crisp, on thicker side of being light bodied with a slightly higher amount of medium carbonation. The mouthfeel was nice and it worked well with this beer.

Overall I thought this was a nice beer and I thought it was a nice example of a Black Lager, it had pretty much all the aspects that I look for in the style and it was only just a little rough around the edges. This beer had nice drinkability, I could drink a couple of them. What I like the most about this beer was that it was just a true to style Black Lager. What I like the the least about this beer was the slightly watery aftertaste. I might buy this beer again if I was in the mood for the style and I wouldn't turn one down. I don't think it's a must try, but it's worth trying if your a fan of Black Lagers. All in all I liked this beer, but I didn't love and in the end I thought it was a solid example of the style. It's not a favorite Lucky Girl beer and it's just a little above average for the style. Nice job guys, this was a solid Black Lager.

This was a refreshing beer. Perfect for Spring weather. I liked it with a cigar too! Just a nice brown sugar-like sweetness and classic dark lager flavors. Nothing special but very nice.
