12 ounce bottle into tulip glass; no bottle dating, but is a recent seasonal release. Pours slightly hazy/cloudy deep ruby red/copper color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, light cocoa, raisin, plum, herbal, light pepper, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt, fruity yeast, and light cocoa/earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of big caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, light cocoa, raisin, plum, herbal, light pepper, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Light herbal/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, raisin, plum, and herbal/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt, fruity yeast, and light cocoa/earthy hop flavors; with nice malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Very clean on lager flavors with zero yeast off flavor notes present. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a very smooth and moderately creamy/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice doppelbock style. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt, fruity yeast, and light cocoa/earthy hop flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink for the ABV. This falls short as a chocolate doppelbock, but as a regular doppelbock it is really well done. A very enjoyable offering.

Lucky Girl Chocolate Doppelbock.
This one has been a huge seller at the store that I frequent. Not entirely sure why as of yet seeing as I've only had one beer out of this company and it was quite average. But, at $1.49 a bottle I figured why the hell not. Enough philosophy, let's drink.
Look - From the twelve ounce bottle into a pint glass. Pours a moderately clear amber coloration with a two finger, darker than most off white head that eventually dies down to a cap amongst the top of the swill with a medium amount of thickness. Carbonation is easily visible given the clarity and appears to be just a bit higher than I had expected. The thick cap of froth has thus far remained quite well and full without yet breaking for life as a simple cloud formation. The froth continues to remain as a thick cap even ten minutes into the beer and the lacing is small, though not spotty.
Smell - A chocolate bock you say? well to be quite honest Im not getting much more than your standard bock characteristics. Hell, this beer smells more Dubbel like than anything. Very sweet cherries and lightly baked breads fill the nostrils and wrap themselves around your nasls passges. A kiss of the whole barnyard funk ordeal that I tend to notice in most Belgian at least seemingly so beers. Not even a trace of alcohol is present
Taste - Once again it is mostly just a big, and pretty well balanced Dubbel in flavor. Guess I just really haven't had enough Bocks to tell the true difference although it must be quite small since I'm not noticing anyhing new. The chocolate is there in the tail end of the flavor but mostly it has the usual dark, baked bready and flax goodness of your average Dubbel. A bit of tart cherry, and toaster strudle like thing comes through as well. Honestly this flavor is pretty well balance and does a great job not to be overly sweet and cloying. Though I may have to dock it a bit for the sole purpose that it doesn't deliver much in terms of the chocolate levels it promised on the label.
Feel - The body is fuller than I had expected with a very high level of active carbonstion. The ' lager ' aspect stated on the bottle becomes a bit more apparent in the feel...hell I had no idea this was some type of lager until I just read it. Also had no idea this was nearly 9% abv. The alcohol remains hidden away exceptionally well especially for a beer that doesn't appear it could mask it all that well if it were trying. Still not much of the chocolate.
Overall - Alrighty then. Seeing as I have not had much experience with the Bock style, and ZERO since I started reviewing again after a two year hiatus I'm not quite sure how to go about this one. Anyway, If this is truly a lager, which I will believe the lable that it is, it is one that is made quite well with more flavor than nearly any other lager I have ever had. The alcohol is very well hidden for the ABV despite the only slightly so lackluster overall feel which would have you guess such things would be very prevelant. An interesting beer that I think you should just try for yourself and come to your own judgement on. I'd buy this again at $1.49 a bottle..
EDIT* Yes I know it is a Doppelbock, just used the term ' Bock ' because it is shorter and more convenient. Sue me.

I picked up a bottle of Lucky Girl's Chocolate Doppelbock last week for $2.09 at The Lager Mill. I think Samuel Adams Chocolate Bock is the only other Chocolate Bock I've had and since since Sam Adams didn't release it last year it would be nice to find a replacement, so lets see how it goes. 2014 Vintage. Poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a snifter.
A- The label looks nice, it goes a little with the name and I think it's a little eye catching. It poured a pretty clear amber brown color that took on more of a crimson color when held to the light with almost two fingers worth of fluffy tan head that died down to a thin ring that stayed till the end and it left a little bit of spotty lacing behind. This is a good looking beer, I have no complaints.
S- The aroma starts off with a medium amount of sweetness with the malts being the first to show up and they impart a caramel malt, toasted malt, bread and bread crust like aromas with some clean lager yeast showing up in the background. Up next comes a somewhat lighter fruity aroma with some dark fruits coming through. Towards the end comes the chocolate which is on the lighter side and it isn't as noticeable as I thought it would. This beer had a decent aroma, but i was expecting more chocolate to come through, but the bock base was nice and true to style.
T- The taste seems to be very similar to the aroma and it starts off with a medium amount of sweetness with the malts being the first to show up and they impart the same aspects that they did in the aroma with those toasted malt and bread crust flavors seeming to stick out the most with that clean lager yeast still showing up in the background. Up next comes the fruits which show up just as much as they did in the aroma and they impart that same dark fruit aspect with no single fruit sticking out the most. On the finish comes the chocolate which is very light and not that noticeable and it's followed by pretty much no bitterness with a little sweetness taking it's place and it had some nice malty and dark fruit flavors showing up in the aftertaste. This was a nice tasting beer, but I wish the chocolate showed up a lot more, it was barely noticeable.
M- Smooth, crisp, fairly clean, medium bodied with a medium amount of carbonation. This beer had a pretty nice mouthfeel that worked well with it.
Overall I thought this was a decent beer and I thought it was a decent example of Chocolate Doppelbock, just as a Doppelbock it's pretty nice, but this is called a Chocolate Doppelbock and when it comes to the chocolate aspect it's pretty lacking. This beer had ok drinkability, it was smooth, crisp, fairly clean, not too filling and the taste didn't do the best job at holding my attention. One is enough for me, anymore than that and i think I would start to get bored with the lack of chocolate. What I like the most about this beer is the appearance and mouthfeel, they are both good and are the highlights of this beer along with how nice the Bock base was. What I like the least about this beer was that the chocolate aspect was barely noticeable, I think the chocolate needs to show up much more to make it live up to it's name. I wouldn't buy this beer again since I don't think it delivered when it came to the chocolate aspect. I can't say I would recommend it since it really doesn't live up to it's name. All in all I wasn't impressed with this beer, the bock base was nice, bu the chocolate didn't add much to this beer. It's about on the same level as their Pumpkin Beer and I would say it's my least favorite Chocolate Bock with Sam Adams Chocolate Bock still being my favorite. Better luck next time guys, this one could use some work.

Nice medium brown color. Smelled good and bocky but very little chocolate. Taste was excellent. Good, malty flavors. Not much chocolate but I wasn't really hoping for much. Just wanted a good doppelbock.
I bought it because I was really enjoying the bock and doppelbock tastes lately. I had never seen or heard of this brand before, but seeing the pretty pin up on the label and the $5.99 price for a 4 pack and higher ABV, I had to give it a try. I would definitely get some more.
