This ancient village and community pub brews its own beer "Piddlebrook" a traditional "bitter" style session beer at 3.8%. The pub itself was for many years a regular entry in the Camra Good Beer Guide, but is not listed in the 2008 edition. I can only comment on regular visits made up till 2000, but hope to re-visit sometime soon and review again. The beer was always very pleasant and good value, and the lunchtime food was excellent and always busy because of its good reputation. The pub itself - being very small - is usually crowded in the evenings.
Two other guest beers were usually on tap and ciders too, plus the usual "lagers."
A small L shaped bar with three "rooms" all low ceilings and genuine beams, very cosy feel, an outside garden seating area, and very small car park at rear.
The owner and brewer retired in 2001, and now under new ownership, though continues to brew the one beer, but cannot comment on what it is like since the change.
The 900 Bus - Birmingham to Coventry passes the door with one stop right opposite the pub, which is very near the Allesley Parish Church on the 'old' Birmingham Road that goes through the village, parallel to the A4114 Pickford Highway, the Allesley Village bypass.
