Hazy orange-straw color. Medium sized bubbles formed on the side of the glass. It was too hazy to see bubbles rising from the bottom. The head poured almost a finger high and evolved to medium-large bubbles while still covering most of the surface after a couple of minutes. Some lacing left on the side of the glass up to the top of where the head had been.
Mild barnyard smell with a bit of grass and some light malt. Swirling the glass boosted the barnyard smell.
Medium bitter flavor levels with some light sweetness. There is a bit of light fruit. At the midpoint, the flavor turns more bitter and the barnyard takes over. The aftertaste is mostly bitter with some mild barnyard. The bitters build up over several mouthfulls.
Mild foaming action that doesn't tickle the tongue very much. The foam expands to large bubbles.
The slight sweetness helps to mitigate some of the barnyard flavor. Unfortunately barnyard seems to be the baseline for the current batch of local beers. I will be much happier when this plague of barnyard is gone.
