Phoenix and Willamette hops give balance to this surprisingly smooth, easy drinking porter. Notes of caramel and chocolate give this beer its character.

A decent Porter that my wife had an I sampled hers. I'm getting more into dark beers now, but my wife has always liked them. I'd say it was good enough. More chocolate flavor and hardly any coffee taste which is what I like. Rated about 2017.

not a bad little porter here, but i dont think its as good as their red, which stands as one of the better beers i had on my recent trip to south dakota. this is nice and dark in the glass, with a good frothy head on it, tan and slowly fading. it smells burnt a little bit, but i always kind of like that in a porter. scorched coffee and crystal malt together seem to make up the malt base, sweet for a moment and then earthy and bitter and a little sharp, but also rather distinct as they go. its more hoppy than others as well, english type bitterness from the hops, and a lingering taste on the end as well. there is some chocolate malt here, dark but sweet too, and the burnt element comes back right before the finish too. less body than i like in the style, it seems a bit light, but its carbonated pretty well and feels active all the way through. warms up nicely as well. maybe a little generic on this one, but its better made than a lot of its peers up there, and on the whole i liked this one quite a lot. very dry at the end, a good accompaniment to greasy fried foods in an unexpected way.

Enjoyed on tap at the Wooden Legs Brewing South Dakota Tap Takeover.
The pint poured an opaque brown with a tan head.
Aroma is big malty goodness, chocolate, roast coffee and a hint of caramel sweetness.
This is a very tasty porter. I get a hint of coffee bitter first, then a little sweet toffee and caramel and a really good and lingering dark chocolate finish.
Mouthfeel is a little bit thin. A little creamier feel would make this even better.
Overall, a really good porter. Glad I got to try it.
