Ambre Des Flandres

Ambre des Flandres pours with massive amounts of carbonation, which in turn produces ample portions of ultra bright white head. The body is moderately dark copper in color, and is quite clear. This is an outstanding looking brew.

The aromas are not as easily perceptible. There is a subtle light cola crispness with cooked vegetables, but altogether very faint.

However, the taste is robust with toffee/cola like flavors. There are also slight metallic flavors on the edge of the tongue.

God bless the Belgians/French on their beer styles. It brings variety to the land of Lagers and Weizens, Germany.

75cl cork and caged brown bottle, drank during one of my French beer evenings in October 2007.

Poured into my Hoegaarden Grand Cru glass and two Palm glasses, all in one pour. Clear amber colour with a thin white head.

The aroma was all about caramel, toffee and roasted malts, very impressive.

The flavours imparted in the taste mainly revolved around a toffee base, vry moorish.

Although everything I have said about this beer is toffeeish, it isn't a sweet tasting beer, nor is it overly thick in the mouthfeel, just a normal body to it.

This is a well made beer, Northern France has some good beers and this is one of the better ones I've tried.

Taste & Mouthfeel : In the mouth, l'ambre des Flandres is first peppery, slightly lumpy, with hints of fig, and evolves toward a final dry and opulent.

Very small head of medium to fine bubbles. It has a mild malty aroma. Its body is a cloudy brown. Its taste is not strong and is very mild initially with a somewhat stronger finish. It has a mild hop flavor, fairly smooth and unremarkable. After a few tastes however, I could feel the alcohol content begin to hit.
