Formerly “Ninja Moose Brewing”, they apparently changed their name after a C&D from Moosehead. Hard to believe Moosehead is still around...

Very cool nanobrewery with a taproom, about an hour northeast of Kansas City. It was on the route, so we didn't have to detour much off the highway. Located a block or two from a strip of quaint shops also, if anyone in your group needs persuading. They also serve local BBQ (from Hank & Tank), which looked and smelled amazing.

First the good parts, the beer selection was very ambitious, over a dozen styles including a Berliner Weisse, Flanders Red, tart Saison, and an Imperial Stout.

Service was timely, we arrived after some larger indecisive groups, so it took a little while to get to us, but they were very friendly and helpful with everyone, novice and expert alike.

The bad news, 3 of the 5 beers I tried had some degree of off flavors. The Flanders Red and Berliner Weisse were undrinkable and left unfinished. The saison would have been great without the solvent off note that was more prevalent in the other two. Imperial stout was very good.

Overall the place was a fun stop to visit, and i'd love to try the BBQ next time. Hopefully the beers will be better, seems to be a lot of rotation so i'd give them another try for sure.

This brewery is about 2 hours from my house. A friend and I traveled there to try the beers. Neat place inside! Bar sits about 6. Comfortable chairs and several tables. Very small inside. While their website advertised 12 beers on tap they had 6 when we visited. We tried 4 and not impressed with any. Beers were thin. We left one on the table after 2 sips. Brew house connected to tasting room. One of the Brewers told us they brew 3 batches daily. We hope the beer improves as it is a neat place inside!

The brewery has a tap room with six barstools and twelve taps. What is on tap varies from day to day and hour by hour. There are a couple of other tables and chairs and a couch around the room. The bartender duties are shared by the brewers so you have direct access to whatever information you want if they decide to share it. Currently there is no food served in house but two local eateries will deliver to the tap room. This isn’t a sports bar, thank god! It’s frequented by locals and husbands of quilters who come to town. Basically, it’s quiet and relaxing and altogether pleasant. Stop in, have a couple, and relax.

Revisited 8 Sep 2018. The building has more than tripled in size although that's exclusively brewing and storing space. I had four different beers, all of which were good to excellent, the Tall Cotton Imperial Stout being first class!
