Picked this up in February 2022 during SFBW. Pops used to work here for a decade or so.
Pours a throwback shade of full on amber. That's alright, SNPA is kinda dark these days (relaively) too and its a totally perfect beer. Hits a nice 1/2" off white head with good retention. Excellent label design too. The aroma hits the crystal malt and C hop train. Caramel, woody, pine, grapefruit rind.
The taste continues much the same way, has a heft to it maltwise that is a throwback to the late 90s bomber ibu war era. But this isn't overly bitter in that regard. It drinks a bit like the old Sierra Nevada IPA. Has a decent degree of crispness to something with this heft. I'd guess the ibus were around 60.
Its nothing I would tell someone they have to go out of their way for, but the historical notes and accuracy of a lot of the stuff on the label is quite nice. My serving was a 4 pack of cans from Berkeley Bowl.

Bomber from the government store. Pours hazy dark gold with a medium white head. Aroma is vegetal, citrus. Taste is dry, bitter hops, soapy finish. Not getting better... bailing out less than half way through the bottle.

Dark gold draft pour with fluffy, tight white pillow of foam; excellent clarity; heavy white lace despite fairly quick cap reduction. Citrus and pine nose. Bitter pine hops with lemon zest bitter finish. Medium lite mouthfeel, moderate carbonation. Zesty bitter hop linger. A pretty good IPA.
