Cute little place atop a hill on Monhegan island. Located behind a wall of lobster traps, there is a small barrel brewery , beer garden and mini food truck . Very good service, opted to stand around the beer barrels under the shade. Window service for drafts and souvenirs. Cute , quaint brewery on a beautiful, small rustic campus slabs. Best beer on the island or for at least 9 miles around

I never review places but when i noticed they had so few i had to. Only tried three beers, a berlinerweisse, stout and an IPA. All were awesome although i can't remember the proper names. The place is supper chill and only a ten minute walk from the center of town. Theowner could not have been nicer! We were anchored near his lobster boat in the harbor. Yep he is a lobsterman. I would say if you were on the midcoast of maine make the ferry trip to Monhegan! The entire island is a special place. FYI there is no bathroom at the brewery just like every other biz on the island due to water shortage so make sure you hit the town bathroom on the way up! Its beside one of the best pizza places i have ever eaten at. The batrooms close at 4 and the brewery closed at 6 the day we were there

Tiny spot on a tiny island: a bench, a picnic table, and grass serve as seating area. But they had 4 taps including a kolsch, rye IPA and a RIS, all were solid but the RIS was the best. Kickass relaxed vibe as we had generously poured samples and the guys showed us the paddles they were carving for flights. Growlers to go, bottles for sale, and loads of merch indicates this serves the locals but is frequented by a steady stream of tourists. Probably no one is going to monhegan island for the beer, but if you are on the island, swing by for a flight after your hike. And hope that the RIS is on tap!

Found this place August 2013 and it had been in operation just a few months. They weren't set up to give tastings, just growlers. And I didn't want to lug a growler around the island. Went back this August 2014. Still sort of bare bones setup but they were pouring tastes, glasses, pints, "growlettes", and growlers. Got a pint of Shipwreck IPA. It was great! Very hoppy but not too grassy and it had an interesting herby back-of-the-tongue taste which I'm wondering might have come from the locally grown (on the island) hops that's in the mix. While there's a whole lot of other reasons to visit Monhegan Island, this brewery rates high as a destination worth pursuing.
