Served on tap in a snifter
Appearance – The beer is served a pitch black color with a one finger head of cream color. The head fades almost instantly leaving just light level of streaky lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma has only a hint of cherry within, but is quite heavy of a nice roasted malt and some rather strong smells of chocolate and caramel instead. Along with these aromas comes some smells of a graininess as well as a hint of coffee as well.
Taste – The taste begins with a nice blend of chocolate and roasted malt mixed with just a hint of cherry. As the taste advances more and more cherry comes to the tongue and is joined by a light level of coffee flavor as well as some more grainy tastes. In the end, with the advance of cherry and the nice blend of roast, chocolate, cherry and caramel, a smooth and sweeter dark flavor is left to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel- The body of the brew is on the averages side with a carbonation level that is rather average as well. For the mix of cherry and roasted flavors the feel is nice but likely could have been slightly better accentuated by a little thicker of a body and a slightly lower carbonation.
Overall – A rather tasty stout with a good level of sweetness, a bit of cherry, and a nice roasted malt presence. A nice one to try.
