L’Oasi Della Birra

This is an outstanding beer place in Rome, a great place to eat and drink some beer but also a beer store with a large selection.

They have a number of beers on tap - about 20 or so that I saw- including some basic beers but also some good-quality and less-common beers. The tap selection included a lot of German beers plus a number of Italian and Belgian beers and a selection of other. The bottle/can selection is huge, at east 100 different types, but the place is both a store (selling beer, wine,olive oil, tapenades, etc) and eatery. They have a lot of Italian beers, both macro and craft, plus I saw several American beers of various types including Anderson Valley, Tap It from San Luis Obispo, Dogfish Head, Saranac, etc. English beers included some excellent finds like Young's Bitter, plus a number of smaller British beers. German beers were numerous and they had a lot of Belgian ales.

The place itself is quite varied, with indoor seating in the wine-store part plus a back room, some outdoor seating, and a neat wine-vault-like basement seating area with old bottles of beer all over the walls and shelves. There is some outdoor seating also.

Service was good and some very friendly and helpful, with clear knowledge of the beers.

Food we had was outstanding. They have a large and varied buffet with good dried meats, cheese, etc., plus pasta , various grain-vegetable salads,casseroles, and more. They also have hot dinner meals after 7:30pmand we had outstanding pasta dishes, some of the best we had anywhere in Italy.

This is a top choice for beer in Rome.
