Can: Poured a black color ale with a large dark brown foamy head with good retention and light lacing. Aroma of roasted malt notes with light subtle black chocolate notes is OK. Taste is a nice mix of roasted malt notes with some black chocolate notes, light residual sugar notes with some light oat notes also perceptible. Body is about average for style with good carbonation. Enjoyable stout with good drinkability.

Pours a deep midnight black with about two fingers of brownish head. Quick break, not much but a thin collar left behind.
Smell is roasts and espresso with some hints of cocoa in there for good measure.
Taste is similar to the nose. The espresso is up front, roasty malts and then I get a touch of bitter cocoa. A nice medley of flavor.
Feel is a little thinner than I usually like, but still quite nice at about medium bodied with good carbonation. Finish is bitter coffee and cocoa.
Much better than when I initially had it. The flavor seems much more defined, and the overall feel is much nicer. Glad to see them refining this recipe.

Now that I've sampled this two consecutive years it's time for a review. I believe this beer has grown on me. At first I was a bit skeptical. This was a solid oatmeal stout but nothing ground breaking. I still believe that to be true however it seems much more refined this year.
Pours a jet black with very minimal head, dissipates slowly leaving some nice lacing. The nose offers notes of chocolates but mainly roasted malts. Tastes quite roasty but with very nice rich chocolate flavours especially after it warms. My second glass sat out for a while and gained a few degrees but what a difference it made in bringing out the flavours.
This one drinks far too easy but if you can let it warm a little
