Pours a dark reddish brown with just a fine layer of retention. Not much on the nose but a hint of the candidates sugar. The taste is quite mild but missing some spice and complexity. The raisin and candi sugar definitely stand out. Quite a dry finish. Overall this is a nice first attempt that being said it's a bit thin and missing some depth.
Really nice to see Dominion City try this style. A great start but there's definitely room for improvement.
Upon review in 2017 there doesn't seem to have been any improvement. This years brew was dominated by toffee malt and only hinted at a the dubbel style.
