Pours a deep chestnut brown with a nice thumb's worth of head. The head breaks slowly and you are left with a thin layer of foam and some decent lacing. The smell is hop forward, I especially get piney hops. There is also a nice nutty malt presence. The taste follows the nose, the hops are prevalent and then the typical brown characteristics come forward with a nice nutty flavor and a touch of sweetness. Feel is medium and there is good carbonation.
I think the American brown ale is underrated. I love the hoppy and nutty combination and find this example one that would hold up strong against its counterparts.
