Pours nice and black with about a thumbs worth of purple-brown head. There is a quick break and you are left with a cap and collar. Some lacing.
Smell brings the black currant to the fore, with some stout elements in the background... roasts, chocolate and a bit of nut.
Taste blends the nice currant flavors with those of the base beer. Roasts and cocoa mingle with the black currant giving a unique and enjoyable flavor.
Feel is on the thin side for a stout, but it goes down smooth. Carbonation is a bit higher than I would expect for the style,I assume that is a result of the fruit
A nice beer, but the black currant adds an acidity that takes away from the stout. I think I would like to see a little less currant and a bit more weight to this one.
