L- Rich dark chestnut, clear, pours with a 3mm creamy looking pale tan head. Forms lot of lacing on the way down. FWIW 4.5/5 is one of the highest Look ratings I recall ever giving...
S- Quite mild, I just get some roast grain and a hint of richness.
T- Boy it's pungent for 'a mere 7.5%', it has the taste/feel of a barley-wine and an impactful one at that. The rich, deeply roasted yet bitter aspect seems to leave a brush of numbness on my palate and tongue. Really hard to rate, I sit pondering if this beer is OTT for me...
F- Seriously pungent and ditto^ full-on for 7.5%. I wonder if I completely blind-tasted this where I'd guess the ABV%... perhaps 10%+? This for me is an quite extreme example of a beer that via necessity is a 'slow-sippin' beer', it's waaay too full on to hurry. More suited to a chilly winter night.
O- The only info I have right now is that on the bottle's front lable - 'Bishop's Ale, Strong Rich Ale 7.5%'. I have yet to read lable detail or the Description^ here on BA. In summary I'm pretty amazed that the brewer could squeeze this *massive* impact out of 7.5%, that's quite something. Whether I would wish to drink it again; I doubt it, I think the absence of any subtlety about it, or complexity that unfolds on your palate, makes it rather uninteresting.
330ml bottle £3.75 BBE: May-2022 Bought from BeautfulBeers/BurySt.Edmunds as part of a large pick-your own consignment to London.
p.s/Edit: Now I read the bottle for clues. It says it a barley wine, not much else of note there to add here.
