Vasaknų Dvaro "Šviesus". Basically a growler fill; in Lithuania they have draught systems set up to fill 1 litre brown plastic bottles with screw-tops. I got this fill at an Alynas twenty minutes ago. 4.80% ABV. Reviewed live, but added from notes dated July 2015 taken while waiting for this brewery to be added to the site.
Served cold and side-poured a bit gently as slight carbonation issues are anticipated.
No bubble show forms as it's poured.
HEAD: Pours a one finger wide head, white in colour. It's pretty typical; not very frothy or creamy. No lacing sticks to the sides of the glass as the head recedes. Average complexion and consistency.
BODY: Translucent nontransparent copper with faint orange hues. Quite dull and unattractive. Clean; no yeast particulate or hop sediment is visible.
Overall, it looks okay, but is far from unique or special.
AROMA: Helles malts, crystal malts, honey malt sweetness, and faint generic floral hop character. A bit nectary. Honey malt dominates.
A pleasant aroma of mild strength.
TASTE: Honey malts dominate, as in the aroma. There's some nectary and floral hop character. It's on the sweeter side, sure, but I find it enjoyable to drink. Helles malts, crystal malt. Clean barley.
I like the honey sweetness, and the nectary notes play well with that. There's admittedly not much complexity/intricacy or subtlety at play here, but as a simple honey-redolent brew, I do like it.
Average depth, amplitude, duration, and intensity of flavour.
TEXTURE: Smooth, wet, medium-bodied, fairly filling, and well-carbonated (perhaps even a bit overly so.) This texture suits the taste generally pretty well, but doesn't do anything to bring out the best in it. The sticky feel of the beer on the palate fits the honey malt-dominated flavour profile, but in and of itself it's not a pleasant effect per se.
OVERALL: I'll have little trouble finishing the litre bottle, and it's a well priced beer, but it doesn't have enough honey character to be a honey beer, and it's a bit too sweet to be a very drinkable light beer. I wouldn't get it again, nor would I recommend it to friends. But you could do worse and it'll get you drunk. Pretty average by Lithuanian standards. Meh.
