On tap at the brewery in Breckenridge. Dark brown. Smells most like bourbon. Taste is almost a pure shot of bourbon with some sweetness and a touch of malts. Pretty good.

neat beer from these guys, aged in breckenridge bourbon barrels, and from what i gather, extremely freshly drained ones. i like this being a brown ale, somewhat less intense on the dark malt and attendant bitterness, which is cool, usually i appreciate that because you can taste the bourbon more, but here, the bourbon is almost too much, its really intense, as much whiskey as it is beer. the bourbon totally overwhelms the brown, which is a solid and rather substantial beer on its own, but there is so much whiskey here that it doesnt matter much. the aroma is hotly boozy, its way too much. some chocolate in here too, barrel char in nose and taste, but this almost tastes like it has whiskey added right in, instead of just wood aged. smooth in feel but a little thin to handle all the whiskey flavor. i love the beer here, almost all of it is amazing, so i had a little higher hopes for the first barrel aged beer i have had from them, especially with the breckenridge bourbon, maybe too much of a good thing here, but still a very tasty beer, and quite a bit more drinkable than many of them. worth a try, but its not their best work overall.
