Our classic and beloved Double IPA is a throwback to the West Coast style that splashed across the beer landscape in the 2010s. With a huge splash of Centennial hops and an enormous dry hop of Chinook, Amarillo and Mosaic, it’s dripping with piney and dank deliciousness you won’t want to put down. But at 8.2% ABV, too many of these bad boys will have you stumbling around like you’re snow blind.

A friend brought this one back from Colorado for me. This is a West Coast style IPA and my first beer from Broken Compass. The most notable thing to me is the sweetness from the malt. I sweeter than the typical IPA, especially fro a double. Also had a decent bitterness to it but overall it was more mild than anything else.

L - Golden, amber, clear and dark. Decent head, decent lacing. Darker than most DIPAs I have had recently.
S - Decent bitter pith/citric smell, some strong pine undertow here, a bit funky (perfumey?)
T - The bitterness hits first, then some malt citrus, after there's a cloying after-taste that has a medicinal or chemical taste to it. Hard to specify the fault here, but eek.
F - Decent carbonation, good palate attack and full on the tongue, but it just won't go down easily because of the strange off-taste.
O - Wanted to really like this given the description, but this batch at least put me off. WIll try again on next visit.
