a solid pilsener here, a little richer on the grain side than i am used to from the imports, but i like it being a little heartier. the malt flavor is there, that kind of dusty european pale crackery pils type, but there might be a pinch of crystal in here giving it a light sweet flash and a sturdiness. the hops are really tame here, even light for what i have become used to in a czech style, and i do miss a bit of bitterness on the finish, this isnt as quick and clean and dry and bitey as some of these are, and now i miss that in here. the beer is hardly under flavored through, the proportions are just different. plenty of malt character running through this, and the lager yeast is flavorful as well, coming on more and more towards the finish, european and slightly doughy, but right for this beer. carbonation is good, the body is a little high for the style but its not a bad thing, and its off dry. overall my first beer from boxing bear is good not great. i hope to visit the brewery when i am in the area later this month and try a few more of their offerings!

A much darker, heavier Czech pilsner than I'm used to, but it came as a pleasant surprise. Overall, the toasty flavors and smooth mouthfeel of this brew were great and I would definitely order it again.

Draft pint at the brewery in Albuquerque. Crystal clear bright amber. Slight skunk and earth on the nose. Body is a little heavy (buttery?) Malt forward, earthy hops, with crisp finish.

Pours golden with an orange hue. Aroma is bready, earthy, a little musty, citric peel. The highlight of the beer for me. Flavor follows suit, perhaps a touch of sweetness in there I don't necessarily need. A fuller body, too heavy to allow it be be sessionable, imo. Overall, decent pilsner but it does not hold up against this city's big hitters like Marble Pilsner ir Bosque Lager.
