do guavas grow in the dessert? i dont know, but they did a nice job with this, and after a couple more of their beers, i am realizing i made a mistake by not visiting them when i was in town earlier this year! this is a simple beer really, gose to me before its a fruit beer, and in the age of over fruiting everything, i appreciate that tremendously. there is a nice tartness to this that really brings out the fruit, as i think the salt does as well, its like sweet in the middle from the fruit, but then all of a sudden dry and acidic, unexpectedly well rounded, with some more wheat malt flavor and body than these generally have. the salt is the key here, i like the high salinity, especially with the tropical fruit, they make each other pop, slight green olive in here from it, which i dig. the sourness is clean enough, lactic and bright, and the beer still feels fluffy. the fruit is natural to me, a little melted popsicle thing going on, but thats perfectly pleasant. really solid brew, great use of the fruit and a bold use of salt. i have liked just about everything i have had from boxing bear so far, and for all the mediocre and out of whack fruited gose types out there, this one stands out as a winner!
