Poured into a tulip, the appearance was a ruddy burnt orange juice color. Quickly dissipating head fizzles into a oblivion. No lacing. The aroma has a ton of overly sweet orange juice features flowing into a sugary malt. Light grassy hops. The flavor sticks to the orange juice sweetness, sugary malt comes back pouncing in the aftertaste and finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a cloying stickiness to my tongue. No grip, just heavy sugars coating my tongue. Carbonation feels fine, though. Overall, another bomb out by Bent Hill. Don’t think I would come back to this.

16oz. can served in a tulip. Pours a lovely bright orange hue with a fluffy, 1.5 inch bright white head embedded with pinpricks and craters. Clarity is slightly hazy. Nose expresses bright citrus notes with a slightly candied character at the back. Taste is a bit dull and muted. Citrus as well as some pith and biscuit malts. Mouthfeel is light-medium (closer to light) in body with a mild acidity. Overall, a decent offering. Alcohol is well-hidden and it's not heavy or cloying, but it's difficult to standout with all competition in the IPA market right now.

Pours a murky orange tinged with brown with nearly 2 fingers of white head that leaves behind decent lacing. Aroma is a it subdued but citrusy and tropical with lychee and some blood orange. Taste hits the same notes as the aroma lychee upfront with a bit more brightness from the citrus towards the finish. Medium-full body, moderate carbonation, and a bit of a slick mouthfeel. Overall I'm not a fan and I don't plan on revisiting.

Badass DIPA. Very tasty and smooth. Definitely worth trying. It has become one of my leading favorites !

From the 650 ml bottle in trade from a non-BA member. Sampled June 27, 2015.

Slightly murky medium amber pour under a modest head.

Good straight forward hop and roasted malt aroma. And those oranges are an intriguing addition.

Medium smooth body.

The taste is sweet and orange infused with a bitter hop bite to end.

Poured from fresh can received last Friday (6/22.)
No date, but I know it's fresh because the brewer didn't offer this to our store until last week. Moderate to vigorous pour yields 3/4 inch slightly off white head over a cloudy golden body with some sticky lacing. Head is down to a ring after more than a few minutes and comes back nicely after a swirl or two. Nice nose of sweet citrus (blood orange!) and a bit of floral notes as well. Not bad at all. Taste of more citrus with a citrus pith bitterness on the finish. Feel is pretty good for any juice bomb, which is normally lacking in carbonation. Overall, this is much better than most of the previous reviews would have you believe. Cheers!

A - Cloudy brownish orange colour. One finger of nice soapy white head. Good carbonation coming up. Spotty lace and a half finger of retention.

S - Lot's of citrus, grain, orange, grapefruit.

T - Grapefruit pith, orange, alcohol, syrupy fruit, some rough alcoholic medicinal notes. Orange is definitely there but not in a crazy capacity.

M - Not too much in terms of bitterness for a DIPA. Good carbonation, nice full body.

O/D - Overall pretty decent. A little rough around the edges but it has a good hop flavour but maybe is overshadowed by the orange. Worth a crack.

Pours on the dark side, smells musty, tastes earthy, feels creamy, overall just not good.

L - opaque golden bronze. Nice jiggly fluffy head.

S - acrid orange peel: the juices that barely ooze out when you really squeeze that rind. Dank and spicy mosaic with bitey malts. Lemon and grapefruit--the rinds of course!

T - it does nail the blood orange. Deep, penetrating bitter orange flavor with toasted grapefruit twang. Malty, rich, and heavy. Citrus is the name of the game, with lots of earthy bitterness, especially on the finish.

F - 8.2% definitely lends some heaviness with a hint of syrup. Robust enough.

O - I always enjoy blood orange in a beer and this is no exception. Maybe a tad too bitter and aggressive, but at least it delivers what it claims.

So glad I had this beer and formed my opinion on it before seeing where the brewery was located. I thought the brewery killed it on this beer.

The look is a deep orange with a red tinge. Very interesting for an IPA. The look and feel went hand in hand. A great head with chewy carbonation. A nice look and feel to sink your teeth into.

The smell was fruity, but light on the hops, and heavy on the malts. The taste followed suit. Taste started off fruity, highlighting the blood orange. It moved pretty quickly to a malty/caramel base finish. Friggin tasty.

If you grab this beer expecting a nice fruity, hop-forward Vermont offering you will be sorely disappointed. Put the beers origin aside and objectively grab yourself one for what it is. You won't be sorry.

Poured from the 22 oz bottle into an oversized snifter.
Pours a deep ruddy auburn red. Couple fingers of head.
Aromas are dank and sticky. Incredible big aroma of hops and citrus. Did I say dank?
Taste is really really nice as well. Maybe not as dank as aroma, but tons of hoppiness, tons of blood orange, very prominent here.
Mouthfeel was sticky sweet. The blood orange left a good deal of sugar.
Overall, this beer is above outstanding. My first Bent Hill beer and I need more!

Enjoyed with friends during a barbeque dinner out on the deck, poured into tulip glasses. Pours a fairly dark reddish-orange with an ample two-finger tight white head that slowly dissipates leaving tons of lace. Aroma is of citrus, slightly floral and with some sweet sugary malt. Taste is really nice, definitely reminiscent of blood orange, with some great floral hop notes, and a perfect balance of bitterness on the finish. Mouth is medium-full, but with adequate carbonation to keep it refreshing and invite another sip. Overall, this is a fantastic beer and one I will be seeking out.
