This was poured into a snifter. The appearance was a dark brown close to black color with a thin cap of a tan head that dissipated immediately. There wasn’t any lacing. The smell started off with some gentle smoke and a light portion of chocolate. No matter how much I let this warm, pumpkin doesn’t really show but in its place there’s a light vinegary aroma (doubt if that was intentional). The taste was mainly of smoke, roast and chocolate. Luckily, the vinegar doesn’t show up in the flavor. The mouthfeel was basically a medium bodied with a good sipping quality. Roast does hit on my tongue. Overall, like the idea, but the execution, eh, I don’t think vinegar was called for in the aroma, so...get those lines cleaned, Bent Hill.

Treated as a Double/Imperial Stout, this was poured into a snifter.
The appearance was a nice looking dark brown close to black color with a one finger white to off white foamy head that dissipated fairly quickly. There wasn't any lacing whatsoever.
The smell had a semi-sweet to vinegary smokiness about it. Pumpkin remained ever so slightly in the background.
The taste was mainly the same as the smell. Vinegar was still there with now, a slight roastiness to it. There's a lingering sweet to smoky aftertaste with a wet finish.
The mouthfeel was about a light to medium on the body with a decent sessionability. That vinegar, wooeee, it kind of makes things a bit sharp and harsh on my tongue - ouch.
Overall, I say that this was probably infected. That's too bad. If I could get a fresh clean bottle, I'd try again, until then since the company doesn't date their bottles this stands.
