great looking brew
notes of roast, booze, chocolate, watery caramel, medicinal plastic note, rubbing alcohol/nail polish remover.... no coconut detected. not a great combination of flavors. also very little of what i typically get from from bourbon barrel - minimal bourbon, no vanilla, not much oak or sticky caramel/toffee.... and this is in pappy barrels? shame!! usually when i crack a barrel aged stout, i know im in for a treat. definitely not the case with this one. feel is decent, some thickness to it and very smooth texture. overall, as far as bourbon aged souts go this one is pretty poor.

Poured from the 375 into a stemmed tulip.
Pours deep dark brown with minimal light khaki colored head.
Aromas are lots of roasted malt, some chocolate and mellow bourbon.
Flavors are pretty good, mellow bourbon, roasted malt, some chocolate and touch of brine. No coconut for me.
Mouthfeel was a bit thin for me.
Overall, this beer was aged in Pappy barrels and I do wish the bourbon was more prominent. It was tasty but overpriced for the level of beer in the bottle.

While not listed on the label, it was a Pappy Van Winkle barrel: my only wish was that it had more Pappy presence, nice porter with good flavors.
