With a hop, hop here and a hop, hop there. Here a hop. There a hop. Everywhere a hop, hop... It turns out that Bent Hill Brewery and I have a lot in common. We're just a hoppy guy in a hoppy world.
And since hops rule everything around me, I find comfort in the brewery's Imperial New England-styled IPA of the same namesake. Matte goldenrod and floating a dense foamy cap. With the hovering scent of citrus and a backdrop of tropical fruit, orchard fruit and a twinge of botanical herbs. As its pastry sweet maltiness greets the tongue, it comes with a blend of croissant, shortcake, floral honeysuckle and agave early and often on the palate.
As the hops open up, they lead to a bold citrus taste that boasts tangerine, red grapefruit and a spritz of black lime. Just like in its scent, a secondary tier of tropical fruit brings a fruit punch medley of pineapple, passionfruit and papaya. The juiciness of honeydew and pear show up before a transition to a smooth and herbal bitterness that's laced with lemon pepper, sun tea and a fresh spruciness.
Full in body and carrying a mild alcohol spice, that and the peppery, herbal hops carry a taste of botanical gin and hemp into a bittersweet finish and with a medium long linger of citrus peels.

Fantastic iteration of a soft hazy juicy NEipa, truly one of the best I've ever tasted

Second time around with this one for me and last time I see I poured it into a tulip and failed to review on here. This time, I opted for my stemless wine glass, why? Well, more or less just a different view for once. It gave off a remarkably beautiful head, semi-rocky with white foam and dissipated gently to leave some rings. About a good looking hazy burnt orange color in my glass.
The aroma was the same as last time - "iced citrus rind" and pith with some grapefruit juice and pine resin.
The flavor bit into the juicy sweet citrus and pith to cherish a fantastic blend of bittersweet qualities and finding their into the aftertaste.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a fair sipping quality about it. Appropriate low carbonation and some smoothness with some bitter harshness trying to grip my tongue. Light hop burn but really not too bad. Nice enough finish of juicy citrus and some clingy pine.
Overall, a DIPA by Bent Hill that I tend to really like! Luckily, the hop burn in this is so far underneath that the aroma and flavor really helps make this a stellar beer!

Moderate to vigorous pour yields a huge white head over a cloudy, almost murky body with some nice sticky lacing. Nose of tropical fruit and citrus. Taste mirrors nose but with a bit of dank pine bitterness on the finish. Very Nicely done although the mouthfeel is a bit lacking. Overall, much better than their latest IPA. Cheers!

[IMG] Poured into a stemless Teku glass canned with in the last few weeks. Pours very hazy, with a finger plus head that leaves some solid lace, as it slowly settles. 4.5
Smell is very green, pine, apricot, earthy over tones, and some ripe grapefruit rind. 3.75
Taste follows very aggressive green wood maybe, pine, apricot, sour apple, and over ripen grapefruit. 3.5
Mouthfeel is spot on bigger than average, plenty of life, not dry, and besides that green pungent unusual flavor very drinkable at 8% ABV. 4.25
Overall this one is a very unusual DIPA, almost a Belgian DIPA thing going and I have gotten used to it, but it definitely dominates all the flavors. 3.75

I'm having a hard time getting into the milkshake ipa or dairy ipa. But this double ipa has swayed me from some of my early assumptions. I dig frost and farnham but both seemed much too creamy in offerings that I have tried.
This one hits the sweet spot where the lactose only adds a small filler to the mouth feel and tone to the hazy appearance.
I'll be buying agian. Wu-Tang forever.
