Four pack, but three in and I get what's going on. Normally, I like my true 'New England styled IPA's in tulips, but considering that Beer Advocate doesn't recognize that style just yet, this review is out of a becher pint glass.
The appearance was a burnt orange murky color with just a rim of lace clipping the sides of the glass. There was a little bit of head for a brief approximately thirty seconds to a minute, maybe. Honestly, it really wasn't too much to look at.
The aroma had a superb blend of pine, mango, papaya, sweet grass and white pepper. Light clean biscuit malt on the back end. Noticeable dry hopping.
The flavor was semi-sweet with an ample spicy kick biting at a dry bitterness. Definitely a dry hopped semi-sweet to bitter aftertaste, noticeable dry hopping here.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a sizeable sort of dry-ish yet manageable clean mobile character gliding across my tongue. Good low carbonation as noted for the New England styled IPA. Finish is fairly dry with a snap of sweet stick but a sort of a pulled 'bitterness' lining up to zap some of that stickiness.
Overall, it's a New England styled IPA with a lower yeast suspension than expected. It snaps together the parts mostly and well, ya know, let's just say it's on par but not a grand slam.
