Can to snifter because it looks like an imperial porter to me.
The appearance was a dark brown close to black color with a small eggshell white semi-foamy head falling off gently. Some messy lace.
The aroma absolutely had that vanilla chai tea-like character rolling into small notes of coffee sweetness streaming into some roasty and toasty porter like notes. Subtle earthy cinnamon ever so slightly underneath.
The flavor leaned towards the sweet side initially but develops some sweet tea (chai-ish) with vanilla tones. Some earthy clenching dry to toasty and roasty character in the aftertaste.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a certain sipping quality about it. Some dryness but not burdensome. Slight smoothness. Finishes with a touch of grip (harshness), guessing that's from some cinnamon that I believe was in the recipe.
Overall, very nicely done imperial porter done up in the Bent Hill fashion, always worthy of coming back to this time of the year.
