A: Pours an opaque yet still clear very dark mahogany in color with just shy of moderate amounts of active visible carbonation rising along the edges of the glass and faint garnet red + ruby red + chestnut brown colored highlights. The beer has a two finger tall sudsy foamy tan head that reduces to a couple of small to medium sized patches of very thin film and a very thin ring at the edges of the glass. Light amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Slightly stronger than moderate aromas of cinnamon and light to moderate aromas of vanilla over the top of just shy of moderate aromas of toasted + roasted + caramel + nutty hops with minimal amounts of caramel sweetness. Very light aromas of earthy hops.
T: Upfront there are moderate flavors of toasted + roasted + caramel + nutty hops with minimal amounts of caramel sweetness. That is followed by slightly stronger than moderate flavors of cinnamon and light to moderate flavors of vanilla. Finally there are light flavors of earthy hops which impart a light amount of bitterness which lingers along with a light to moderate amount of cinnamon.
M: Slightly heavier than medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Light amounts of dryness (from the cinnamon) in the finish.
O: Drinks fairly easily and the alcohol is well hidden but it feels a little over-spiced with cinnamon which dries out the mouthfeel and leaves a slightly unpleasant lingering flavor. Don't think that I would get this one again but it was not a bad beer. Seems perfect for a cool fall evening.
