6.28.16 on the bottle
Pour presents with that dense hazy body just this side of home pressed apple cider. Massive billowy head finally settles in with tufts and escapees clinging to the glass.
Nose began by bursting forth from the bottle as it was opened and subsequently poured. Then my neighbour started frying onions and I had to go around closing the windows. The aroma has subdued somewhat, but is still definitely a tangerine juicy with mango and papaya and nectar-like sweetness and maybe some floral flashes to brighten the borders.
I feel like this beer is trying to straddle two worlds. There's a light touch of feathery MPDG nectarine dream whimsicality, but it is enveloped and soon overwhelmed by a deep scowling bitterness that reaches back and scrapes its way forward. They seem almost at odds with one another. I am hesitant to refer to onions, as I mentioned above it smells like my neighbour is cooking them this fine morning, but I think I'm finally starting to understand when people reference them in beer. Not gonna lie: it's... not quite what I was expecting when I picked this guy up. It lingers on the tongue reminiscent of pithier offerings. Have you ever made a red sauce and accidentally overseasoned it (of course not! Who does that?!? But bear with the analogy...)? That's kind of what the bitterness reminds me of.
Anyway, highly carbonated, medium thick body. Lingering bitterness. I've really enjoyed most things I've had from 3 Magnets, and I'd heard great things about this one, so my expectations were pretty high. I don't feel that my experience lived up to them. But that's just me. Maybe it caught me on a bad day!
EDIT: as it has warmed and I have slowly sipped the second pour, that unpleasant herbal bitterness has receded significantly though it still feels like it is a bit of a frankenstein of different elements cobbled together. Interesting, and I'm still looking forward to trying other offerings from 3 Magnets portfolio, but this one still just doesn't really move my dial as I'd like it to.

Grapefruit and lemon up front... champagne bubbly on the tongue... hint of malt finish... better as it warms.

The best mix of juice and booze! Not too cloudy, crushable. 16oz can.

Appearance: Pours cloudy and honey colored with a one finger head; good retention and squiggly lacing
Smell: Tropical aromatics of mango and passionfruit
Taste: Juicy mango forward, with a hint of pineapple; through the middle, passionfruit adds a little bitterness but the finish is juicy and fruity with limited bitter flavors
Mouthfeel: Medium to full body; creamy with moderate carbonation
Overall: A good example of a NE IPA; nothing memorable but no complaints, either

Canned 4/23, consumed 5/24. Nothing I’ve had from matchless has blown me away, they’re all basic hazy IPAs and this one is super misleading. Why are breweries trying to overhype their hazy IPA names with names like “juice smoothie” when they’re nothing special? Sales gimmick. Fell for it again. No more matchless for me! Go get hazy little thing by Sierra Nevada and do a blind taste test with this beer. They’ll be identical. Thanks

Nice hazy light yellow straw color. Big 2-3 finger head. Frothy thick foam.
Smells of mango and grapefruit.
Taste some funk and bitterness up front. Sweetens up a bit and gets malty. Dries out quickly and some more hop bitterness comes through. There's some pine and cattiness mixed in with the other hop flavors.
Feels a bit thin for an IPA but decent mouth feel.
Overall a good beer. I've had some better mosaic IPA brews recently that had more mango flavor. Good beer though.

Poured from a 16 ounce can into a IPA glass.
Look- Straw, hazy, visible sediment, white frothy head, average head retention, above average lacing.
Smell- Citrus, tropical, mango.
Taste- Citrus, tropical, flavor is good- but on the weak/watery side.
Feel- Medium body, average carbonation, smooth finish.

Poured from 16oz can into 20oz tulip glass. Canned on 1/23/18.
Look: Pours dark yellow, with hazy/murky appearance. 1/2" head formation, which quickly settled, but left a good amount of lacing. The lacing is prominent and is really pleasing to look at.
Smell: Upfront with citrus fruits, consisting of orange, pineapple, lemon, papaya, mango. Strawberry and banana hints are also present on the nose, with banana being very subtle. Very mild hop profile on the smell.
Taste: Follows the nose, with orange and pineapple mixed with mango, strawberry and banana. Really pleasant taste. Not much hop presence, but slightly on back end of palate.
Feel: Slightly less than hoped/expected, but has medium body to it, with slight weight on tongue. Acidity doesn't seem high and low carbonation. Wish it was a little thicker in feel.
Overall: This is a pretty darn good beer. It is light and really easy drinking. The fruit notes definitely start to sing as you drink it. Cheers!
