Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a medium to dark red amber with a fine two finger khaki head with great retention and lacing. Aroma of biscuit malt, red berries, light citrus hops; classic red ale profile. Favor is biscuit with light caramel malt, citrus hops, mixed stone fruit. Finishes with hoppy biscuit malt and earthy fruit flavors. Medium bodied with light creaminess, good mouth feel. It's been a while since I've had an imperial red ale and it's been worth the wait. The look, smell and flavor are all classic red ale, but amped up a bit and with a hard to parse, but flavorful fruit component. Nicely balanced and with a little more hops than expected, but welcomed. I liked this a lot.
