From the bottle, it pours a hazy brown with a modest head, soon diminishing to nothing. Zip. Scent is odd, spicy scent that reminded me of root beer, with alcohol thrown in. Taste is of alcohol and caramel malt.

Poured into a Gulden Draak tulip. Pours a lightly hazy orange brown with a thin khaki head that dissipates to patches with light lacing. Spicy aroma of Belgian yeast, light and dark stone fruit, slight caramel and cola-like root spices. Flavor is biscuit and candi malt, clove, black pepper, obscure fruit with hints of citrus and stone fruit, Belgian yeast. Finishes with peppery spicing and clove. Medium bodied with light creaminess. A distinctly Belgian ale, but the profile is much closer to a Belgian strong dark ale, with the typical spicing and fruit flavors of that style; more dry than a dubbel. There is a little graininess in the malt, especially in the finish, that is reminiscent of a saison. Not quite to the dubbel style, but a good spicy domestic Belgian style ale. Long lingering clove aftertaste. Actually would make a satisfactory winter warmer with a Belgian twist.
