Pours a very dark brown with a creamy tan head. Some sticky lacing. The aroma is oak and vanilla with hints of coffee. The flavor was a bit more on the vanilla extract side to me, and I was a bit disappointed. Heavy oak and a bit of alcohol vapor. Still smooth enough though. Not bad, but not one I would drink again.

22 oz bottle. Didn't see a date, but bought at the brewery a few days ago.
Jet black in color, off white head. Not much lacing. Aroma is big vanilla. Some toasted marshmallow as well. Taste is again dominated with the vanilla. Not boozy, pretty smooth. Flavorful but not harsh. Fuller bodied. Overall very solid beer.

Overall this is a pretty nice Imperial Oatmeal Stout. Opened an aged bottle in Park City on our mountain camp/cabin expedition. Taste is pretty smooth and the alcohol is well hidden. I do get vanilla in the nose with some coffee, toffee and alcohol. Taste is very good as far as vanilla stouts go. Seems that most that claim to be 'vanilla' don't really meet that requirement. But this one does. I do get roasted malt, dark coffee and nuttiness up front followed by vanilla notes at the end. I would definitely get this again.

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours pitch black with a half finger light brown head with good retention and lacing. Aroma of sweet toasted malt and vanilla with a hint of cherry. Flavor starts similar with semi-sweet toasted dark malt, vanilla and a mild fruity note, but then thins out revealing a thin, astringent bitterness with residual light vanilla. Medium bodied with light creaminess. I have unfortunately not had the base stout for this, but much of the oatmeal stout character has been lost in translation to vanilla. At first, quite nice with good dark malt and clear vanilla as well as mild dark fruit. The finish is thin and does not show the thick mouth feel that is characteristic of oatmeal stouts. A good vanilla forward stout, but a bit unbalanced.

Pours a deep nut brown color with a tiny bit of light tan head.
Bit sweet and of a vanilla bomb; some sweet chocolate, roasted malts, bready, and toasted notes. not a ton of complexity. Lighter body and low carbonation.
An ok beer, with a ton of vanilla.
