Very dark appearance with significant head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is a bitter caramel. Taste is minimal and very thin. This was a disappointment

Appearance: Almost totally black. Very minimal head retention with no lacing. Light brown chocolate colored head.
Nose: Toasty caramel, sweet biscuit, with a very faint finish of vanilla bean.
Taste: Smooth syrup with a watery finish. Mouthfeel is interesting, it is both syrupy and watery. There is certainly some coffee bitterness, but it is delicate. A little bit of alcohol heat in the middle. Lingering finish of light raisin or treacle.

Pours a picture perfect midnight black with a lovely mocha/tan head that brings incredible staying power. About as photogenic as a beer can be.
Beer is probably colder than it needs to be but the smell is muted, there is a pleasant roastiness and a pleasant nuttiness but it is not much of a pop.
Taste is sweetly bitter, reminiscent of good dark chocolate. There is some coffee roastiness that comes through but it reminds me very much of a shot of good espresso added to a rich stout. I think it would benefit from approaching room temp
Pleasant feel if you are ready for it, I personally would call this a porter mostly based on mouth feel. I think they might be adding more coffee than most people do to this by volume because the mouthfeel reminds me very much of the drink I love to make by adding coffee to stouts. It results is a much much thinner stout though.
Overall this is a pleasant beer for what it is. The flavors are really nice, and it has a nice coffee zing to it. As I get more through it I appreciate it more but it is really an outlier in my experience, almost like they thinned a sweet, raisin-and-stone-fruit-y stout down to a porter by diluting with coffee. I suspect I will stay up later than intended tonight.

Canned 9th Oct 2018. This vintage uses Ethiopian Kidane Natural coffee.
Black and thick with a thin brown head that falls off rapidly leaving little lacing this looks solid. The nose is dominated by the coffee. Lightly roasted allowing the fruit and the earthy tones to come through, there's notes of dried blueberry, dark cherry and a touch of petrichor. Along with this is some cocoa, milk duds, a little almond, and roast. The palate opens mildly bitter with a blend of roasted grain and coffee bitterness. This is followed by a sweeter blend of chocolate and coffee. Fruity with blueberry and dried cherry, a light floral note is also present. The chocolate is a blend of sweeter milk and dark chocolate, rather ganache like. The low carbonation only further enhances the richness of the palate. Medium full in body and softly carbonated, this beer is creamy on the palate. Bittersweet on the finish with lingering chocolate and coffee, this beer is quite excellent. Alcohol is shockingly well hidden.

L: Deep black, nice initial tan head that quickly dissapated, low head retention, tiny amount of lacing.
S: Very nice coffee and dark chocolate aroma, really pick up all of the earthy, fruity notes from the Ethiopian coffee used. Also pick up some sweet toasty malts.
T: Dark coffee and sweet malts dominate the flavor, not as complex and varied as the inviting aroma.
F: Medium, alcohol very well hidden. I would like a bit fuller body, but it does drink smooth and easy.
O: Great choice of coffee for this stout. Certainly a recommended buy, especially the way it's nicely priced.

Can pour into a snifter.
L: Pours midnight black with half finger of tan medium density white head that had moderate retention, eventually settling to a persistent ring, and left sporadic spotted lacing.
S: Lovely nose, dark roasted coffee, dark chocolate, some earthy and woody undertones.
T: Much more coffee dominant, other aspects are faint to lost. Finishes with moderate bitterness, lingers slightly on the palate.
F: Slick on the tongue, some burn from the ABV, slightly chewy on the finish.
O: Good coffee stout, but prefer mine more like FBS with fuller mouthfeel at a lower ABV and more prominent chocolate.

A beautiful pour from a can with a great artwork sleeve except for one thing. It is almost impossible to read the print. But the pour makes up for it. It looks almost black with about a half inch of tight tan head.
Big is the word for this stout made with Bg Trucker coffee. Huge coffee aroma smells like I fired up the coffee pot. Seriously...fills the room with fantastic coffee smell. Under the huge coffee there is roasted malt, chocolate, and a little burnt note. There is a fruity note like raspberry, and a little molasses.
The taste is excellent, delivering coffee and chocolate in abundance. There is a little acrid note that stops before getting annoying. The roast flavors are assertive, with a bitterness that lingers along with a slightly acidic coffee aftertaste.
Overall, very well done. It is a sipper at ten percent, and enjoyable as it warms and opens up. Recommended.

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours pitch black with a one finger khaki head with great retention and good lacing. Deep aroma of dark toasted malt, coffee, a little molasses and chocolate and a hint of char. Flavor follows with dark toasted malt with a little char, quality coffee, light chocolate with some mild dark fruit notes developing into a good coffee and malt finish with some pleasant coffee bitterness that lingers. Medium bodied with good creaminess and mouthfeel. This is a very nice coffee stout with quality coffee flavors and a good deep oatmeal stout base. I'm not sure why, but this is much better than the Vanilla Tompkins I had earlier in the year, which seemed to lack the oatmeal viscousness and had a somewhat thin finish. This is clearly a oatmeal stout infused with a good coffee. The ABV is very well covered. I still haven't had the base Tompkins, but this makes me want to try it. Hopefully it will be canned in the future. Looks, smells and tasted great. Well done.
