Can at tasting. . Dark brown pour, small beige head. Malty aroma, dark bread, raisins. Taste is more of the malts, pit fruit, sweet, dry. Dusty, leathery.

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a hazy, medium to dark reddish orange with fine, one finger khaki head with good retention and lacing. Aroma of caramel and biscuit malt, raisins, figs, apricots and hints of citrus; the profile is more like an English barleywine. Flavor is dry caramel malt, raisins, apricot, oaky vanilla with a nice oaky caramel and oak finish. Medium bodied with light creaminess. The flavor overall leans more towards an American barleywine, with light fruit flavors, but with little in the way of hop bitterness, although the malt is very English tasting. Not as much fruit complexity as other barleywines, but makes up for it with a good distinctive, but not overpowering oakiness and woody vanilla. Alcohol well covered. A straightforward, but flavorful hybrid style barleywine. I got two cans and think this could be a good candidate for aging; I'll check on it in a few years. Wow, hard to believe it already has a half year on it now.
