Perhaps not your standard yellow hazy beer, but Hysteresis still does pour opaque. The burnt orange body is capped by an enormous whipped egg white cap that persists and sticks to every square inch it touches.

A softer strength of grapefruit than your classic double IPA emerges. A touch of tropical fruits, predominantly mango, follow behind, with just a minimal amount of pine to finish it off. Honestly, the whole aroma seems a bit dialed down.

The flavor shares the same sentiments but with much more rind influence. A fruit smoothie blend of flavors actually, and a light caramel maltiness that reminds me of home brew extract. It finishes with that same minimal pine before some fusel alcohol comes in.

It's smooth, full, and kind of soft feeling. It's quite balanced and only moderately bitter, then it ends with a chalky dryness.

Not exactly what I was hoping for, but good nonetheless. I was hoping for a much brighter, bitter, and a new take on a classic, but everything seemed muted to me. I'll still give it another shot if I see it. Cheers.

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a hazy, medium coppery amber with a big three finger white head with great retention and thick lacing. Aroma of lightly biscuit pale malt, citrus and tropical fruit hops, orange, cantelope and mango; the fruit aromas are dense as in dried fruit. Flavor is lightly caramel malt, citrus and ropical hops, orange, lemon, passion fruit, green melon; fruity and low in bitterness. Finishes with light bitterness and residual dried fruit flavors. Medium bodied with light creaminess and nice mouth feel. Although not as hazy as the latest parade of NE style IPAs, this still fits the profile with lots of fruit flavors and low hop bitterness. Hysteresis leans more towards dried fruit than bright fruit flavors, but the fruit flavors are full and rich. It's hard to tease out the individual flavors, but the overall presentation is deep fruit with light hopping to spice things up. I liked this better than the more fresh tropical fruit flavored IPAs. Looks, smells and tastes great. I wanted more hoppiness, but the fruit mix won me over.
