Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing opaque black in the glass with a half finger dark khaki head with great retention and nice lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, orange, peanut butter and cocoa. Flavor follows with dark toasted malt, peanut butter, orange and milk chocolate with more orange esters appearing in the finish. Medium bodied with light creaminess. It was surprising to find the peanut butter component in the aroma and flavor and perhaps it's just an artifact of the orange interacting with the malt, but it was a clear note throughout the glass. I'm a fan of peanut butter stouts, so I like this quite a bit despite being unexpected. The orange is clear in the aroma and flavor and adds a nice light fruit tone to the dark malts. It is somewhat reminiscent of those orange chocolate balls that appear around the holidays. Didn't know what to expect from this and am very pleasantly surprised. Nicely done.
