a pretty basic dark mild, maybe the least unique beer i have had from these guys, but another very well made one, im not sure there is a bad one in their lineup, which is just so impressive for how many different flavors and styles they make. it has some sweetness, the roastiness of a good porter, and plenty of body despite its lower alcohol content, this is a bit of everything and also kind of not all that much, if that makes sense. roasted malt, brown sugar and molasses, simple flavors, very little from yeast and hops, a slight burnt note, a bit old school, but good overall and rather true to style even though english yeast is not really here. some minerals to this, both sweetness and lingering breadiness and slight astringency too, not off, but not for everyone either, one of their least versatile beers i reckon. lighter body for its color, fine carbonation, but just a little sticky and stuck to me, not a flavor issue but maybe a texture one, perhaps i have just come to expect too much from this brewery, as almost all previous things i have had from them have been stellar. this is one to skip, if you have to not have them all, but there arent enough dark milds in the world, so i was happy this came to be in the first place, even if i didnt love it objectively...

Pours a dark clear brownish color with adequate foam in the chalice. Plenty of spritz on the tongue. Aroma of cooked grain. I don't sense anything like hops, though there is the barest touch of leafy bitterness. There's a little scorched cereal along with hints of butterscotch.
This seems quite grainy tasting for the English style. However, it is possibly more interesting than the current crop of "Mexican" lagers for the same modest alcohol. From the 16 oz can purchased at Elizabeth Station in Bellingham.

Can from Tavour marked Simon.
Pours a solid dark brown with faint garnet at the edges and a good sized tan head that persists. Rich toasty light caramel and dark fruit with bits of chocolate and roast. Light earthy hops to counter. A bit roasty and bordering on stout but its a tasty beer.
