Dark muddled brown bordering black with an almost non-existent light tan ring of bubbles around the glass

Hawaiian Tropic lotion mixed with melted milk chocolate aroma.

Flavor follows with a very artificial coconut and nuttiness. Lots of chocolate again.

Slick and creamy feel with an unpleasant alcoholic tingle.

I love German Chocolate Cake. This is a respectable attempt but misses the mark overall.

Cheers

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing opaque black in the glass with a thin brown head that dissipates to patches with light lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, light coconut, dark and milk chocolate and vanilla. The chocolate is rich and authentic, smells nice. Flavor is dark toasted malt, chocolate, coconut, light toffee and vanilla. Finishes with coconut and a little vanilla and hop bitterness. Medium bodied with light creaminess. They pretty much nailed the German chocolate cake with this one; authentic chocolate and well balanced coconut, caramel and vanilla from the frosting. The malt is somewhat thin for a stout of this size, but it manages to support the flavors well. This was my favorite cake when I was kid, so this is a welcome pastry stout. Tasty.
