16oz tallboy can purchased at Nectar in Kendall Yards, Spokane, for $2.99. Canned on July 16, 2019, it was being clearanced out. Apparently, a dark mild doesn't sell too well at Nectar.
Poured into a shaker pint glass, this was initially the color of night, but became more rubyish when held up to light. Decent sized tan head that exhibited good staying power and left some nice lace.
Odd nose. I got a little bit of dark malts roastiness, but also grassy herbal notes.
A little more developed in the taste than in the nose. Roasty, malty beginning, herbal hoppy middle with a dry, clean finish.
Fairly light bodied, with a clean finish for an ale, which seems about right for the style.
I suspect the stout that was brewed with the first runnings of this was massively hoppy. That aspect doesn't seem traditional. Still, it's a decent, sessionable beer for what I paid. Just not sure I'd return to it if it were at it's original price.

really neat little beer here done with second runnings from a big imperial stout. its simple, clean, dry, and good, perfect stuff to put out this time of year, and yet another exceptional beer from three magnets, who has yet to let me down still. its not as dark as a stout, with some light pushing through the medium brown base, a nice frothy head rests on top from the can, tan and high. aroma still presents some of the dark roasted grain of the stout, but there is more than that going on here, an appreciable english type crystal malt middle, a bready yeast component, and a hint of leather and high end cigar, but not lit, no smoke to this at all, and a lot less bitterness when i taste it than i normally get from beer this color, but not sweet enough to just be covered up by malt sugar either, which makes it oddly intriguing in its simplicity. subtle raisin, tobacco, and brown sugar at the end with the yeast, dark cocoa, bran, and even coffee. its very flavorful, and very well refined. fuller bodied for being so low alcohol, and the kind of thing i want to sip on nonstop on a chilly fall night. i am loving three magnets lately!
