16-ounce can purchased from Uptown Beer Co. Date stamp reads "PASSION PROJECT 03/23/21". Enjoyed in a half-pint tumbler.
Look:
Pale straw gold and cloudy, with a loose white head that quickly dissipated into a thin skin on the surface and a tenacious ring around the edges.
Smell:
Very pungent pine/juniper nose backed by mild barnyard funk and a hint of citrus. I get some lager malt underneath, but it's like trying to pick out a conversation at an Iron Maiden concert.
Taste:
Very unbalanced. (Might not be a flaw for this experimental beer.) A grainy malt flavor is quickly overwhelmed by a savage piney bitterness. Notes of juniper and lemon peel. Something herbal and bitter in the middle. The finish is bone dry and mildly astringent, with an aftertaste that suggests lemon-scented pine needles.
Feel:
The body is light, and the brisk carbonation makes it feel even lighter.
Overall:
I don't know quite what to make of this beer. I'm not even sure I added it under the right style. Infinite Deliberations kind of seems more like a hoppy saison than a hoppy lager. Quite interesting--and I mean that as an honest description instead of left-handed praise. I'm not sure I liked it, but I'm glad I tried it.
