no surprise this is excellent, these guys do everything well. cool cans, fair price, lots to like about this one, even a fairly unique beer as the style goes, the hops are different to me, not noble, not classic, not even subtle and in the background on the finish, they kind of define this one, even though the rest of the beer is quite traditional, meaning a crisp ferment and a pale european malt base coming together in a real refreshing lager-like brew, but these hops are nuts, making this really quite radical for the style. not sure what they use, but im super into it, i get mixed berry and fresh herbs, a little resinous sweetness too, pretty boldly dosed for the style but not bitter at all, lemongrass and subtle vanilla even too, it hits weird at first as a kolsch, but i warm up to it quickly and find myself wishing i had another can. its still light, easy drinking if not as dry as the best kolsch types out there, but the sweetness carries the hop flavor, which is what makes this unique and special, so i would not trade it for a faster finish, i love what i taste here. cool yeast profile too, and neat that this isnt in some throwaway blonde ale base or something, even though the traditionalists might take exception. thoughtful, cohesive, well executed, all things i love and respect these guys for, what a cool take on this style!
