Look and smell are fantastic on this beer. It pours dark dark dark, and it has a lovely two finger head with excellent retention. Lacing is abundant. Smell is a beautiful blend of coffee, roasts and rum. It is very enticing. However, this is where the pleasure ends. This beer is lacking in the flavors that should carry over from the nose. I get a touch of rum and coffee, but they both fade quickly. The feel is light and carbonation is way too much. The carbonation is so active it interferes with the flavor.
I bought this from the brewer directly, and I would have expected a bit more quality than this for the good money I paid for it. A true disappointment.

Pours a very inviting midnight black with a small off white head. Fantastic retention of lacing, very lively. The rum is very present on the nose and its qualities are present in the flavour as well. Fairly thin and one dimensional but the coffee presence does become apparent as the beverage warms. Very highly carbonated which really takes away from the feel. Quite a dry finish with lingering sweetness.
