From Rare Beer Club. Pours a dark brown with a minimal head that lasts quite a while. Aroma is sweet chocolate, caramel and roasted malts. Tastes of caramel and vanilla. Sweet, finishes smooth but somewhat bitter.

Poured from 750 mL bottle into snifter.
A: Pours a clear light cola brown with 1/2 inch light tan head with decent retention.
S: Lovely soft malt notes of caramel, toffee, brown sugar, and there are also some bright fruit and berry notes which are pleasant surprises. Hint of wood smoke too.
T: Leads off with soft brown sugar and caramel, turns toward toffee and a nutty note, then heads toward fresh apples and bright berries. Smoked malt lingers in the background.
M: Medium body and effortlessly smooth feel. Delicately sweet with malt and fruit notes. Lingers and matures nicely on the palate with the smoke emerging more after the beer has been quaffed. Highlight of the beer here.
D: Excellent example of style. Super drinkable with decent complexity. Very dangerous at nearly 10%!

On tap at the brewery - Hannibal, MO
Brown colored ale with some ruby hues when held to light; thin beige head. Aromas are typical for a Scotch ale: earthy & peaty, toasty malt, brown sugar, molasses. Decent flavors with notes of earthy peat, spicy hops, grain, caramel, and a hint of fruitiness. Medium body, moderate carbonation, alcohol very well concealed, dry spicy finish. Surprisingly easy drinking for 9.8% ABV while keeping a good representation of the style.

Burgundy in color with a small, khaki-colored head. Minimal lacing. Earthy aroma. Very malty with sweet toasty caramel. Good grassy kick to finish nice and smooth.
