A surprise hit at FoBAB 2016, quick review from written notes.
Guessing this is the Elijah Craig 12 barrel the brewer mentioned over the summer...should be a bottle release next month if it is.
Black body with a thin veil of tan foam that left behind some minor spotty lacing.
Aroma is big and roasty, some light vanilla and barrel char, pretty well rounded.
Taste was also big and roasty, light chocolate and vanilla notes, woody bourbon presence lingering around the edges and into the dry woody aftertaste. Medium bodied and very smooth, the barrel character is nice and rounds the edges of this big beer well. Overall this was a great surprise, much better than the same beer in a Missouri Oak barrel (Wood Hat, Montgomery Co.)

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
