On-tap @ Astoria Bier & Cheese in Astoria, NY.

Amber color with a small white head that dissipates quickly. Slight haze but mostly clear with patchy lacing on the glass.

Aroma is a throwback to the more traditional American IPAs with notes of grapefruit and piney hops. Nice balance in the flavor, with citrus and piney hops playing off of a caramel malt base. Bitter finish with a light sweetness. Medium bodied and clean.

An IPA with no strings attached, and it's quite tasty. It could be a cleaned up just a bit, which in turn would make it more crisp and refreshing to drink.

On tap at Tap and Mallet in Rochester, NY.

This one pours a partially hazy rusted looking orange color, with a small head, and a good bit of lacing.

This smells orange candy, pine, tangerine, and grapefruit.

This is a pretty straightforward IPA, but it's delicious. It's fairly juicy- lots of orange tangerine juice and grapefruit. There's still a nice gripping bitterness on the finish. This nice bitterness, piney and green, keeps the beer fairly balanced. I don't get much malt character, maybe a little bit of cracker.

This is crisp and fairly light bodied, with a good level of carbonation.

Third Rail makes some cool beers- they're quietly a player in NY.

I was fortunate enough to have this delicious NEIPA when it first hit the scene, fresh on tap at One Mile House in NYC. Suffice it to say, I was beyond satisfied. The Steez has an incredible juice-like consistency, look & feel of what we've come to know as the "NEIPA" in it's truest form. Refreshing on the back-end for sure, and early notes played some lovely music as well. I'd just be wary of not having this at it's freshest date, naturally for the style, but just something to keep in mind. TRB FTW (again)
