Bought at the brewery. I was curious to drink this version from DUM once I had the Wals variety a few times.
Poured a black as it can be oily liquid with a quite dark caramel head that disappeared quickly. Funny how bubbles from the bottle show up occasionally through the dense liquid such as in a lava pool.
Nice and intense aroma with tons of cocoa, lactic acid, licorice, roasted coffee beans, mild smoke and a bit of plums.
Flavor with notes of cocoa, vanilla, pine, black pepper, charcoal, grapefruit, earth, wood, licorice, resin, espresso coffee, oat, almonds and mint. Definitely more cocoa than coffee. Dry and bitter aftertaste with a residual roasted note. 96 IBUs were welcomed here.
Full oily body with mild carbonation of tiny bubbles. Alcohol of 12% is well disguised.
Excellent Imperial Stout with intense peppery, roasted and cocoa flavors. I felt this more rounded than the Wals version.

As expected per the name - this beer pours jet black. Little to no head...but not expecting much from a 12 percenter. Aroma is somewhat muted, nothing too exciting going on. Flavor was very disappointing...almost acrid with over barring roasted malt and underlying astringency. Not impressed.

The legendary DUM Petroleum, served on-tap at O Pensador. Does it live to the talk? I find out. Only R$15 for a 300 ml pour, on to the beer:
The beer is incredibly black, and it spills into the color of the head, which is tanned and forms a half-inch thick. There's little question that the aroma is intense. It's smoky, has notes of banana, and brings chocolate to mind. Its taste is just as complex. Smoky at first, but throughout the journey complimenting notes keep the beer interesting. Among them are licorice and graham cracker, with roasted malt adding an astringent character. The alcohol is hidden very well, and its texture is simply amazing; full bodied, thick, and incredibly smooth.
I'm so glad to come across the real Petroleum. Noticably better than the Wäls version, and well worth the purchase.

330ml bottle served in a sort of tub glass.
A: Beer pours a deep black and oily liquid. Exactly like oil forming a very small creamy and solid beige head. Medium retention and only small spotty lacings left.
S: Strong roasted malts in the nose. Slightly sweet with notes of cocoa, dark chocolate and dry fruits. Flowery, earthy and grassy hops in the end. Just a little bit booze, considering its "high" 12% ABV.
T: Slightly sweet in the mouth too. Strong notes of roasted malts, dark chocolate, raisins and earth. Very biscuity, reminds Oreo :). The 96 IBUs can be felt, intense and pleasant bitterness: A mix of grassy and earthy hops and roasted malts
M: Very creamy body, one of the heaviest bodies I've had. Medium to low carbonation. Roasted malts in the aftertaste
O: Excellent drinkability. For sure, one of the best Brazilian Stouts. Even better than homonym from Wäls. Impressive
