16oz beer to go/crowler, wine glass, consumed same day (5/1/20). This is a Cabernet barrel aged American Amber Ale refermented with brett.
It's a very pretty garnet color with just a swirl of grey-eige head.
Acidic, oak, red fruit, vitamin C chewables, a bit of caramel. The aroma is similar to a Flanders Red.
Woody and funky, like small decaying branches on the floor of a deciduous forest that have seen the cycle of damp and dry so many times they're spongy, yet retain their original form for lack of disturbance. Light toast and caramel. The Cabernet flavor is mild, really waiting to lend a slightly vinous and dry finish.
Almost flat with light to medium body. Drying finish.
This is an odd concept beer. The base beer doesn't seem to have a lot of character, like a blank canvas, but the barrel aging and brett is pretty well done. This can was slightly more filled and tasted a bit better than the other from the same pickup that I opened tonight, but not that much.
