Poured from 16oz can into my Central Coast Brewers Guild glass. There's no date printed on the can, but I'm given to believe it's very fresh.
Appearance: dark-golden hue with a moderate haze and a number of floaties. Head is a thick finger of frothy ivory foam; I rather like it.
Smell: light and sweet; it is fruity and floral in a really good way. How can I describe it? A combination of earthy hops and purple Easter jellybeans. Words fail me, but it's super enticing.
Taste: a rather sweet, caramelly malt base with some light floral hop flavor atop. Reminds me more of a pale ale than an IPA. I feel like the promise of the aroma is not realized in the flavor.
Mouthfeel: medium body with an OK carbonation and creaminess.
Overall: usually a beer grows on me as I drink it, but this beer, unfortunately, is kind of the opposite. I can't tell if it's ill-conceived or ill-made, but it's one of the two.
