Pours a black color. 1/4 inch head of an off-tan color. Decent retention and decent lacing. Smells of sweet malt, spicy hops, slight piney hops, slight chocolate, and a hint of alcohol. Fits the style of an American Porter. Mouth feel is smooth and clean, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of sweet malt, slight roasted malt, spicy hops, slight piney hops, slight chocolate, and a hint of alcohol. Overall, good aroma, blend, and feel.

There is definitely a lot of coffee flavor and aroma here... More than your typical coffee porter, but not overwhelming. There is some chocolate sweetness to balance. Any hop aroma or flavor is trounced by the coffee and chocolate, but I detect some earthiness. The thing that does it in for me on this beer is the little bit of bitter espresso bite, probably not for everyone, but I love it! The medium carbonation is perfect for this beer. If you appreciate good coffee flavor, this your beer. This is easily my favorite coffee porter and currently my most sought beer!

This bottle was a bit beyond its Best By date, so I won't review.
But I could tell this is a well-made porter, surprisingly so for a young brewery.

Rich and full porter. Chocolatey and rich flavored. Lovely almost dessert beer.

Dark cola body with a voluminous, creamy, decadent, and soapy head that leaves thick lace everywhere on my glass; no carbonation is visible through the opaque body. The way the head cascades, and its richness, make this look like a nitro beer save for the soapiness- neat-o! Nose opens with roasty malt and a bit of smoke, quickly followed by dark chocolate, coffee, and a hint of sweetness. The body deivers on the dark flavors, matching the bitterness of the coffee and chocolate with some lactose-like and caramel sweetness. Body is medium weight, with good richness and mild fine carbonation.
Solid beer that gracefully blends bitterness and sweetness with a deep flavor profile. Scorched Earth is a new-ish brewery that has already produced a veteran-quality brew.

12oz bottle, no apparent freshness date
A - dark brown body with a dense, creamy light brown head
S - dark cocoa, roasted barley, grain
T - big bitter roastiness, caramel malt, dark baker's chocolate, espresso, earthy hops, ash
M - medium, creamy body, finishes with astringency and an ashy like finish
O - good but too heavy on the roasted barley/black patent malt. It ends up being bitter, astringent, and lacking some sweetness for the style. I do have to say that the name of the beer does help its cause and gives you an idea of what kind of a beer you will be drinking ahead of time.

Pours dark chestnut in color with a solid inch of fluffy, khaki foam. Aroma smells of peanut brittle, toffee, salted caramel, peat, and earthy hops.

The taste is roasty and bitter up front, buoyed by singed malt and the aforementioned earthy hops. This bitterness is contrasted by an unrefined sweetness that sits comfortably between caramel and pan-fried sugar. Nuts and bittersweet chocolate manifest on the back end. Medium-light body and lively carbonation make for a smooth but thin mouthfeel.

Overall, this is a fair porter with a coarser flavor profile and lighter mouthfeel than I prefer.
